The 1400 does not.Īdditionally, since the SRP for the 1400 is $150 less than the R1800, that also leads me to believe that Epson consider the R1800 to be a higher end printer. The R1800 also accepts up to 13" wide roll paper. While the 1430 is the entry level offering in the 13-inch market, it has the features needed to be a valued addition. At first I was a bit taken back by the new Artisan tag Epson gave this printer, assuming these were only assigned to the lower end consumer models and all-in-one devices.

The 1400 has Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, Light Cyan, and Light Magenta.Īlso note that despite the Claria ink being a newer technology, the ink used in Epson's professional printers, the 3800, 3800, 7800, and 9800 is the Ultrachrome K3 ink. The Artisan 1430 is the replacement for the Stylus 1400.

Plus the 2 blacks, Photo Black and Matte Black will produce better blacks and B&W prints. I'm not too familiar with the 1400, but after reading about it on the Epson website, and comparing it with the R1800 specifications, it is my opinion that the R1800 is still a superior printer.Īs you stated, the 1400 uses the newer Claria inks, but the R1800's 8 colors will produce a wider color gamut because of the Red and Blue in addition to Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow. When it comes to the R1800, all I can say is WOW! Every time I print 13x19, I can't believe that I actually printed that in my own house. I was impressed with the 870 when I bought it, and it does produce acceptable 4圆 prints. Doing my Internet searches found the Epson Stylus Photo 1400 at a best price of £243.59 from the first link below.

I have owned the Stylus Photo 870 for a number of years, and I bought the R1800 last year. Should you have the need to print large image s such as A3 or even A3+ then this printer can do so and it does not take a huge amount of room to do it considering the size of the paper it takes into itself. The 1400 is 6 colour inks with new claira technology and the R1800 is an 8 ink and been out a while can anyone help as to which one would be better? I am not a professional but am looking for the best quality. Was going to go for the Epson R1800 but see there is a new Epson photo 1400 printer out. THIS IS COLLECTION ONLY FROM STREET BA160AY AS IT IS VERY HEAVY I work shifts so please TEXT me your number referencing the printer and i will call you back when available.

Having owned an Epson Printer for the last 15 years each time I upgrade I am drawn back to the quality and value of Epson every time. This is a replacement for my Epson Stylus Photo 1400 purchased in the US in 2007. Epson Stylus Photo 1500W, Epson Stylus Photo 1400. Print borderless photos up to A3+ with the Artisan 1430.

However, now looking to upgrade to an A3. Print quality not great on some colours but pretty sure this is down to my use of non Epson inks, some of the cartidges seem to be dry. The higher quality UV absorbers results in an ink which does not fade as quickly as many of the cheaper generic inks in the market place. Hi, Have an Epson stylus photo 870 printer which is now 6 years old and going strong.
